First week back at school competed

The first week back at school is now behind us. The children have got into the routines of regular hand washing and seem to now be settled comfortably in their classes. We thank parents for supporting our efforts to keep the school safe by checking in at the office or school gate each time they are on the school grounds.

Back at school!

We will be back at school on Monday which will be a great relief (and a little worrying) for many.

While most of the activities on this blog will not be updated regularly some classes will still post Spelling here and there are a number of really useful links that can be used by families throughout the term.

We thank everyone for their efforts with home learning during our time away from school and would welcome any feedback.

Week 5

As we approach Level 2 (whenever that may be!) we have designed this week's main activity to be useful for when we are back at school. There is also a  Maths activity and a Writing activity as usual.

Week 3 of home learning done and dusted!

Thanks to everyone for the great work being done and shared with teachers! We genuinely love having contact with  the children (and whanau) through emails, so thanks to everyone for sharing the children's home learning efforts and photographs of other activities they are enjoying.
It is awesome seeing so many at our Google Meets as well. We are all missing the children in our classes!

A special hello to our few Kahikatea children who are doing their 'home' learning in their own 'bubble' at school.

This week we have focused on appreciation in our writing, with an activity the children can do as a thank you to those who help them in their bubbles and community.
We have also added a new page to the blog which has some fun activities provided by the Cawthron Institute and we are always updating the Choice Board activities and adding more Can Do activities so do check these out regularly.

Keep up the great work.

ANZAC Week

Hi everyone, this week we have tried to theme learning as much as we could around ANZAC Day.

In the classroom we would have spent some time learning about this important day for New Zealand and why we mark it.

We hope you enjoy some of the activities.

Well done!

Kia Ora everyone,

Well done on the first few days of home learning. We have loved receiving the work you have sent in. We would also love to know if you complete Choice board activities or other 'Can do' activities like Epic and Prodigy etc.
Remember to do only what is manageable for your family.

Please also remember that we are available to answer any questions or concerns about the work set (or anything else you think we may be able to help with) between 10am  and 12noon each school day.

Kia kaha

Home Learning 2020

Welcome to Home Learning!
Our home learning has a large portion of work offline. The children are used to working mostly offline and using technology to supplement what we do. If you strike any problems please let us know and we will try to help. We are new to working "remotely" and will try to help.

We are trying really hard to deliver a balanced curriculum that keeps them moving on the basics while still allowing time for the things they enjoy at home.

Some key messages for learning at home are:
·   We all need to be easy on ourselves. If your child is struggling with an aspect of home learning try something else.
·   We have kept reading, writing and maths to 20-30 minutes for each subject each day. Read the requirements for each area with them.
·   Please help them download or access the documents required. Mostly these will be embedded in the Blog or accessed through links on the Blog.
·   If your child would like to do additional work they are able to go into the blog and do ‘can do’ activities.

Please be assured, we don’t want anyone to stress about this aspect of lockdown. If your child refuses to do a task or if it creates too many issues for your family don’t push it. We realise you may be juggling the learning of more than one child and your own work as well. Only do what is manageable for you as a family.

Note: Syndicate-wide "must do" tasks  are available through the tabs at the top and side of the page.
Class EPIC codes are on classroom pages.
Teachers may also use the class pages to post spelling words and additional videos or puzzles for their tamariki.

If you have any questions please ask your child's teacher.
